Bhubaneswar Man Fakes Son’s Kidnap to Chuck Out of Live-In Relation, 4 arrested

Bhubaneswar: A man named Subrat Sethi allegedly faked his 11-month-old son’s kidnap from the Patia station bazaar of Bhubaneswar to end his relations with his live-in partner. Subrat from Dhenkanal district had complained before the police on Tuesday that his son was kidnapped from Patia Station Bazaar in the capital city.

But investigating police officials became suspicious about the complainant and the investigation revealed the truth behind the fake abduction.

Subrat was in live-in relation with Shantilata Moharana and the couple have an 11-month-old son. Shantilata was a married woman, who left her husband Bishnu Prusty two years back to residing with Subrat.

But the relationship between Subrat and Shantilata soured few months back and Subrat wanted Shantilata to return back to her husband.

Subrat along with Shantilata’s husband Bishnu planned up to hand over their baby to Sarat Mohanty, who is childless. Subrat thought the disappearance of the baby would compel Shantilata to return to her husband.

Acting on Subrat’s confession, the baby was rescued from the possession of Sarat. Four persons were arrested in relation to this fake kidnapping case. The arrested persons include Subrat, Bishnu, husband of Shantilata, Sarat and Braj Kishore Nath, who arranged a vehicle for transporting the child.

The Mancheswar police have registered a case under relevant Sections of the IPC and are investigating the case.
