Bollywood Producer Duped of Rs 23 Lakh by Frauds Posing as OTT Platform Reps

Mumbai: A Bollywood producer, Vijay Mulchandani was allegedly duping him to the tune of Rs 23 lakh on the pretext of releasing his movie on the OTT platform.

Based on the complaint filed on Wednesday, an FIR was registered against the duo at Amboli police station in Mumbai.

The accused are Ajay Kanojiya and Abhay Shankar, who posed as employees of Disney+Hotstar.

According to the lawyer of the producer, the two cheats impersonated themselves as employees of Disney+Hotstar and also made email IDs in the said OTT’s name. Money in parts totaling Rs 23 lakh was taken from the producer through a false promise to sell his movie ‘The Miraj’ to the OTT.

The duo was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (cheating), and also the Information Technology Act. But no arrest has been made.
