COVID Returns to Odisha with One Positive Case Reported in Past 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported a COVID-19-positive case on Saturday, according to the data uploaded by the Centre.

During the past 24 hours, over 200 samples were tested in Odisha. Out of them, one sample was tested positive for COVID-19 infection.

According to reports, this patient is under treatment at home and the health condition of the patient is normal.

At present, there are 3,420 active COVID cases in the country with the highest number from Kerala. Four COVID deaths were reported during past 24 hours. They included two from Kerala and one each in Rajasthan and Karnataka.

On Friday, Odisha Health Department urged people to undergo tests if they have COVID-like symptoms.

Infection of  JN.1, a sub-variant of the BA 2.86 Omicron strain of the COVID-19 virus has been reported from Goa and Kerala. The WHO has declared the new COVID sub-variant as the ‘Variant of Interest’ as it is linked to the rise in infection in the US, Malaysia and Singapore.
