Deve Gowda Sacks CM Ibrahim from JD(S) Karnataka President Post, Puts Son Kumarswami in His Place

Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Thursday removed CM Ibrahim from the post of Karnataka unit president of the party. Deve Gowda appointed his son and former CM HD Kumaraswamy as the interim president of JD(S) Karnataka state unit.

Deve Gowda also dissolved the Karnataka state working committee of JD(S).

CM Ibrahim had revolted against Deve Gowda’s decision to ally with the BJP.

This development increases the chances of split in JD(S) in Karnataka. On October 16, Ibrahim had held a meeting with “like-minded” people of the JD(S) and announced that the party led by him was the original one.
