Fake RTI Activist Involved in Over Rs 2 Cr Extortion/Cheating Arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) Of Odisha police arrested a self-proclaimed RTI activist identified as Kishore Kumar Mishra on charges of cheating and impersonation.

According to an official release, the arrested person was from Berhampur but was living in Koraput for many years. A complaint was filed against him at the Koraput Town police station on April 25, 2023.

A fake ID of the I & PR Department of the Odisha government and other incriminating documents were seized from the arrested cheat.

Claiming himself to be an RTI activist having personal contacts with senior officials, Kishore used to cheat/extort money from people through promises to provide crusher license, liquor license and transfer/posting.

He is alleged to have conned crores of rupees through this modus operandi during the past few years. His bank accounts of hint that he made several huge cash deposits and he has over Rs 2 crore in his accounts.

This arrested fraudster was a member of a cheating gang involved in forgery, cheating, and impersonation. This gang used mule bank accounts, including those of dead persons.
