For 1st Time, Odisha Court Convicts Juvenile in NDPS Case

Bhubaneswar: The Court of Juvenile Justice Board, Khordha, in Odisha, on Friday convicted a juvenile in a narcotic substance seizure case and punished him for the offence.

The Court of Juvenile Justice Board convicted the juvenile under section 21(c) NDPS Act, 1985 in STF PS Case No. 28/2021.

The convicted juvenile was sent to Special Home, Berhampur for a period of three years, with a direction for the provision of reformative services including education, skill development, counselling, behaviour modification therapy, psychiatric support, and treatment to him, during his detention in the Special Home.

It is being said that this is the first case in Odisha where a juvenile got convicted in an NDPS.

This convicted juvenile was accused in the case of seizure of 1.268 kg brown sugar in 2021. Bhubaneswar STF had nabbed three persons including the juvenile near Khordha bus stand on August 12, 2021, and 1.268 Kg of brown sugar was seized from them.
