Manipur Video Horror: 14 More Accused Identified by Police

Imphal: Fourteen more accused persons were identified from the video of two women who were paraded naked, informed Manipur police on Monday. Search operations are on to nab these culprits of the inhuman act.

Till now six persons have been arrested in connection with the viral video of the May 4 incident in Kangpokpi district.

The two victims were allegedly gang raped by the mob. A 26-secodn video of the ghastly act of the mob went viral on July 19.

One of the victims seen in the video is the wife of a former Subedar in the Assam Regiment, who had fought in the Kargil War.

A complaint in connection with the video was lodged on June 21 at the Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district, but no action was taken.

Till now the ethnic violence in Manipur has claimed more than 160 lives and over 40,000 people have been displaced from their homes.

Violence broke out in Manipur on May 3, when a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
