NIA Arrests Aligarh Muslim University Student for Alleged ISIS Terror Links

Aligarh: In its efforts to combat ISIS terror modules in India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Faizan Ansari, a 19-year-old student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh. The arrest came after searches were conducted at his residence in Jharkhand and rented accommodation in Aligarh on July 16 and 17, respectively.

During the searches, the NIA discovered various electronic devices and incriminating documents, leading to Faizan’s custody. The agency alleges that he was involved in a criminal conspiracy, collaborating with associates and unknown individuals through social media to support ISIS activities in India.

Faizan, as per the NIA, was responsible for spreading ISIS propaganda on multiple social media platforms and recruiting individuals for carrying out violent terror attacks on behalf of the terrorist organization in India. He was also in contact with foreign-based ISIS handlers, who provided guidance in the recruitment process.

The NIA filed the case on July 19, charging Faizan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). As the investigation continues, authorities are working to unravel all elements of the international conspiracy.
