New Delhi: Michael Debabrata Patra, a reputed Odia economist, was reappointed as RBI Deputy Governor.
The Department of Personnel and Training on Friday said, “The appointment committee of the Cabinet has approved the re-appointment of Dr Michael Debabrata Patra, deputy governor, Reserve Bank of India, for a further period of one year.”
The extension of Patra’s tenure takes effect from January 15, 2024.
In January 2020, Patra was appointed as RBI Deputy Governor for a period of three years. In 2023, the government extended his term by one year.
Patra is looking after the monetary policy department of the RBI and is a member of the rate-setting panel.
