Odisha Govt Unveils Revamped Welfare Package for Puri Jagannath Temple Servitors

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a series of welfare initiatives tailored for the Sevayats, or servitors, of the revered Jagannath Temple in Puri. Among the notable enhancements is the expansion of health insurance coverage, now increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Furthermore, an additional Rs 5 lakh will be disbursed in cases of critical health emergencies.

In a significant move aimed at supporting the educational aspirations of the children from Srimandir servitor families, the Chief Minister’s Office has outlined a scheme offering coaching for various entrance examinations. This initiative encompasses coaching for exams such as NEET, JEE, and Civil Services, with each student eligible for financial aid totalling Rs 50,000, up to a maximum of three times.

Noteworthy is the commitment from the Odisha Government, allocating a substantial sum of Rs 10.85 crore to facilitate these welfare programs.
