PM Modi to Launch Subhadra Yojana in Odisha on September 17

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on September 17 to launch the Subhadra Yojana, as announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This launch will coincide with the Prime Minister’s birthday.

Pradhan highlighted that the Odisha BJP government is fulfilling its electoral promises with a strong focus on women’s empowerment. He stated that the Subhadra Yojana represents a significant advancement in this effort.

On August 23, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi detailed the implementation rules for the scheme, which has a budget allocation of Rs 55,825 crore. The Subhadra Yojana will benefit women aged 21 to 60, excluding those from affluent families, government employees, Income Tax payers and those already receiving substantial government assistance.

Eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 10,000 annually in two instalments, deposited into their bank accounts on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day. Over five years, each beneficiary will receive a total of Rs 50,000.

Applications for the scheme can be submitted via free forms available at Anganwadi centres, Block offices, Mo Seva Kendras, and Jan Seva Kendras. A dedicated call centre will also support the application process. Beneficiaries will be issued a Subhadra Debit Card and will be incentivised for digital transactions, with Rs 500 awarded to the top 100 digital users in each gram panchayat and urban local body.
