Police ASI, Homeguard Arrested for Sexual Abuse of Minor Girls in Mayurbhanj Dist

Bhubaneswar: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a homeguard posted at Jamda police station in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha were arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two minor girls.

According to police sources, both accused were booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and the IPC.

The arrested ASI Anand Majhi (39) was living with a 16-year-old girl, who worked as a maid at his place, after his wife’s death some months ago. The girl’s aunt recently lodged a complaint against the ASI.

Home Guard Debendra Patra (35), was arrested on charges of raping a 15-year-old girl from Jharkhand on October 12. It is alleged that in the name of getting one of her relatives through the help of a tantric, the homeguard took the girl to a secluded spot and raped her.
