Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ Dragged to Court over Use of RCB Jersey by a Killer

Chennai: Obeying the order of the Delhi High Court, the makers of Rajnikanth-starrer ‘Jailer’ will digitally alter the scene of the movie that shows a contract killer wearing the jersey of the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team and making derogatory and misogynistic statements about a woman.

The Delhi High Court directed the makers of the movie that from September 1 the RCB team jersey should stand edited or altered in the theatrical depiction of the film.

“The defendants shall ensure that after September 1, none of the theatres would exhibit the RCB jersey in any form whatsoever. Insofar as television, satellite or any OTT platform is concerned, prior to the release thereof, the altered version of the film shall be broadcast/telecast,” the court said.

In a particular scene from ‘Jailer’, a contract killer, sporting an RCB jersey, mouths sexist dialogue to a woman. The counsel representing RCB, in Delhi High Court, said that the ‘Jailer’ team did not get permission to use their jersey and the scene could impact the brand.

The case was heard recently and the counsel of both sides told the court that they will settle the matter outside court. The makers of ‘Jailer’, had promised to alter the scene digitally.
