New Delhi: A south filmmaker named Jaffer Sadiq has been arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs worth over Rs 2,000 crore out of India. He was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after a four-month manhunt.

Sadiq has made four films. His fourth movie is expected to be released in March 2024.

According to the NCB, Sadiq is the “kingpin” of the India-Australia-New Zealand drugs trafficking network. He is alleged to have smuggled Rs 2,000 crore worth of drugs to Australia and New Zealand.

As per reports, Sadiq has smuggled 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine abroad in 45 batches.
