NCB’s Biggest Drug Bust in 2 Decades, Dark Net & Cryptocurrency Medium of Transaction

New Delhi: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted the largest ever illegal drugs trafficking network in India in two decades. This narcotics trafficking network had its presence all over the country. It was operating through the darknet and cryptocurrency. The drug dispersed through this illegal network was mostly LSD, imported from Netherlands or Poland. Six persons including students were arrested from different cities by the NCB in connection to this drug trafficking racket.

It was the largest-ever drug bust by the NCB in two decades, who seized 15,000 blots of LSD lysergic acid diethylamide, a synthetic drug categorized as a hallucinogen. Possession of 0.1 grams of LSD invites strict punishment. The LSD seized by NCB is worth nearly Rs 10.50 crore.

The mastermind of the cartel was arrested from Jaipur. This cartel used to advertise on the dark net and was also contacting potential buyers through Instagram. The darknet is the hidden internet platform used for drugs trafficking, exchange of pornographic content, and other illegal activities. The six arrested persons were tech-savvy and used to use private messaging apps and hidden websites to evade the authorities.
