NIA Team in Dubai to Root out Dawood’s Terror Funding Network

New Delhi: A five-member team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached Dubai to dig into the terror financing network of fugitive underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company, reported India Today. According to sources, this team comprises of officials from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The NIA team will hold a meeting with Dubai’s investigating agency to get information on the terror funding network.

In 2022, the NIA filed a chargesheet against Dawood Ibrahim, his close aide Chhota Shakeel and three others in a terror case. The case is related to a global terrorist network and a transnational organised crime syndicate, namely D-Company, which is involved in various terrorist and criminal activities in India.

It is suspected that through hawala channels a huge amount of money was sent from Pakistan to India for the activities of terrorism and other criminal activities of the D-Company in Mumbai and other parts of India.
