NIA to Probe Attack on Indian Missions in US and Canada

New Delhi: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) will investigate into the attacks by Khalistani elements on the Indian diplomatic missions in Canada and the US. NIA has already taken up the investigation into the attack on Indian High Commission in London.

Two separate cases have been registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police regarding the attacks on the Indian mission in the US and Canada under the stringent anti terror law, UAPA. The Home Ministry will soon transfer these cases to the NIA, reported NDTV.

As a grenade was thrown during the protest at the High Commission of India in Canada, the UAPA and Explosives Act have been invoked.

The Indian Consulate in America’s San Francisco was also attacked by Khalistan supporters in March. The FIR related to this case also includes provisions of the UAPA.

The NIA is already investigating the attack on Indian High Commission in London after registering a case regarding the insult of the tricolour flag.

Meanwhile, the NIA has released photos of 45 persons involved in the London High Commission attack. The NIA has released five video clips on its website seeking help from public in identifying the people involved in the attack.
