Subhalaxmi Death Case: OSCW Seeks Probe Report in 15 Days

Bhubaneswar: Taking suo motu cognizance of the mysterious death of girl student Subhalaxmi Sahu in a hotel in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) lodged a case and asked the Bhubaneswar DCP to conduct a probe and submit a report before the commission within 15 days.

Odisha SCW chairperson Minati Behera has written a letter to the Bhubaneswar DCP regarding it.

It is being claimed that the initial investigation has revealed that Subhalaxmi may have committed suicide when a lewd MMS went viral.

Commissionerate Police is analyzing the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the deceased and has questioned some people.

Though a student of Kamala Nehru College, Subhalaxmi was not attending classes. She was working as a bar girl in many bars despite being underage. She lost her job when bar owners came to know about her real age.

It is suspected that at this point, some persons exploited her. One of her former boyfriends is suspected to have shot her nude MMS and made it viral. Subhalaxmi allegedly committed suicide because of the viral MMS.

Subhalaxmi had checked into the hotel located in Laxmisagar area at 3.20 am last Friday. Her body was found hanging in the hotel room the next morning.
