Sura Routray Resigns from All Committees of Congress

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Kumar Routray resigned from all committees of the Congress party on Wednesday. He resorted to this after his son Manmath Routray joined the BJD earlier on the day.

However, he clarified that he will not quit Congress.

Sura Routray sent a letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarat Patnaik regarding his resignation from all committees of the party.

“Defying my advice, my son Manmath Routray joined the BJD. It has hurt me. Therefore, I am willing to tender resignation from all committees of the party,” he wrote in the letter.

“I will be a part of the Congress till my last breath. I am ready to do any task given to me by the party. I will never vote in favour of any other party,” the Jatni MLA added.

Sura Routray is a six-time MLA from Jatani.
