Tamil Actor Sarath Kumar’s Party Merges With BJP Ahead of LS Polls

Chennai: Veteran Tamil actor R Sarath Kumar’s Akila Indiya Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) party merged with the BJP on Tuesday, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Sarath Kumar merged his party with the saffron party in the presence of AISMK office-bearers and BJP Tamil Nadu unit president K Annamalai.

Addressing his party workers after the merger, Sarath Kumar praised PM Modi as the man who would take the nation further, towards fostering unity and nurturing economic growth.

Sarath Kumar appealed to his party workers to work towards bringing the BJP to power in Tamil Nadu in State Assembly polls in 2026.

Sarath Kumar joined politics by joining the DMK, which sent him to the Rajya Sabha. Later, he quit DMK and joined the AIADMK. In 2007, he founded his own party, AISMK.
