Bhubaneswar: Severe heat wave conditions will prevail in Odisha till April 28. It hints that this summer Odisha may face one of the longest spells of extreme heat condition in the last one-and-half decade.
According to the midday bulletin of the IMD on Wednesday, the day temperature is also expected to rise by 4-6°C at many places in Odisha during the next 4-5 days. The day temperature will increase to 40°C or more at many places in coastal Odisha due to prevailing northwesterly to westerly dry air and high solar insolation.
From April 5-23, Odisha has already recorded 11 heat wave days against the normal range of four to eight days. If this continues, it would be one of the longest spells of heatwave in the state in last 10 to 15 years, said IMD scientist Umashankar Das to the media.
