Tiger Census Starts in Similipal

Baripada: The tiger census started in the Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.

This enumeration of the wild cats will continue till the end of October. The tiger census is being conducted in 173 beats of 16 ranges in the Tiger Reserve Project and Baripada, Rairangpur and Karanjia Forest Division areas.

The enumerators will continue the census process from 9 am to 4 pm every day till October 31.

Camera trapping will be done between November and January. Pugmarks and stool samples will be collected for DNA sampling. The final report will be prepared by analyzing data from all sources.
