Transgender Cheated by Youth on Marriage Pretext, Files Police Complaint in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A transgender registered a complaint against a youth in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district for cheating her through the promise of marriage.

The transgender alleged that the youth ditched her after having a physical relationship on the pretext of marriage.

The youth mentioned in the police complaint is identified as Diptimaya Maharana of Rajakulakateni village under Kamakhyanagar police station. During his work as a food delivery agent, he came in contact with the transgender named Sanjana Behera, about a year back.

Later on, they developed a romantic relationship and started to stay in a live-in relationship in Bhubaneswar. Diptimaya promised to marry Sanjana. He allegedly took money and ornaments from Sanjana on several occasions.

When Sanjana insisted on marriage in court to legalise their relationship, Diptimaya assaulted her and absconded.

Sanjana filed a complaint at Kamakhyanagar police station regarding the matter. The police have registered a case and are searching for Diptimaya.
