Engineering Student Goes Missing While Bathing in River in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Panic gripped the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) at Sarang after a final year B.Tech student went missing while bathing in the Brahmani River on Thursday afternoon.

Sanat Kumar Mahalik, a resident of Balasore, reportedly slipped into deep water due to strong currents and was swept away. His friends raised the alarm after he failed to return to the hostel for an extended period.

Upon receiving information, a team from the Parjang police station along with fire service personnel rushed to the scene. Search operations are ongoing to locate Sanat, but no leads have been reported as of yet.

The IGIT administration along with Sanat’s family have taken to social media to circulate his information and request any leads that might help locate him.
