Youth Charred to Death After Coming in Contact With 132 KV Live Wire in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A pall of gloom engulfed Basulei village in Dhenkanal district on Monday after a 28-year-old youth, Jagan Rout, was tragically electrocuted by a 132 KV live wire. The incident occurred around 11:00 am near the village forest, where Jagan had gone to gather tree branches for his goats.

According to local sources, Jagan came into unintentional contact with the live wire while cutting the branches. The high-voltage current resulted in severe burns on his legs, stomach, and chest. He reportedly collapsed in a flash and died on the spot.

News of the tragedy reached Parjang police who promptly arrived at the scene and seized the body. A thorough investigation into the incident has been initiated. The body has been sent to a local health facility for post-mortem examination.

Residents of Basulei expressed shock and sorrow over Jagan’s untimely demise. The young man, known for his hard work and kind nature, leaves behind a grieving family and a close-knit community.

Jagan’s death raises serious concerns about the safety of overhead power lines, particularly in rural areas. Villagers have urged authorities to take immediate steps to improve electrical infrastructure and ensure public safety.
