Female Engineering Student Killed for Ransom in Maharashtra, Friend Among 3 Nabbed

Pune: A 22-year-old engineering student missing from Pune in Maharashtra from March 30 was found murdered in Ahmednagar. Three persons were arrested in connection with this murder, including her college friend.

According to police sources, the victim was allegedly kidnapped by three persons, including a college friend, for ransom. The trio sought a ransom of Rs 9 lakh from her parents. She was later strangled to death. Her body was discovered in

Ahmednagar, on Sunday.

The deceased was studying engineering in college in Wagholi area of Pune. On March 29, a male college friend and two others met her and dropped her at her hostel. On March 30, they took her to Ahmednagar. They sought a ransom of Rs 9 lakh from her parents. They then strangled her, buried the body on the outskirts of Ahmednagar.

When her family members could not contact her over phone, they checked the college and hostel, but when they did not find her, they filed a missing complaint with the police.

Later, the accused through a message demanded a ransom of Rs 9 lakh from her parents. The family then alerted the police, who managed to track down the culprits.
