15 Killed and 44 Injured in Fire at Residential Building in China

At least 15 people died and 44 others were injured in a major fire accident at a residential building in eastern China’s Nanjing, According to reports from local authorities on Saturday, the fire broke out early Friday morning from the first floor of the building, where electric bikes were parked.

The fire accident occurred at a building located in the Yuhuatai district of Nanjing, a city of more than eight million.

Video clips of the fire accident circulating on Chinese social networks showed a skyscraper on fire in the middle of the night, with black smoke pouring from it.

Additional footage, apparently taken later, shows white smoke pouring out of several points in the building.

The 44 injured people were admitted to a hospital for treatment.
