5 KCP-PWG Militants Surrender in Manipur

Imphal: Five cadres of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) – People’s War Group (PWG) surrendered before the security forces in Manipur.

The Assam Rifles facilitated the surrender, during which the militants handed over three pistols, three magazines, and 19 live rounds.

This surrender comes as a significant development in the region, following the recent surrender of 37 militants in Manipur. The surrendered militants will be honoured in a formal government ceremony, recognizing their decision to renounce violence and contribute to peacebuilding efforts.

The surrender of these militants highlights the ongoing efforts of the security forces and the government in Manipur to promote peace, stability, and reintegration. Such surrenders provide an opportunity for former militants to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society.

The Assam Rifles played a crucial role in engaging the militants over an extended period, persuading them to give up their unlawful activities and join the mainstream. This surrender not only marks their departure from the path of violence but also signifies a step towards transformation and reconciliation.
