3rd Terrorist Killed in Kulgam Encounter Identified

Srinagar: In a successful counter-terrorism operation, security forces in Kulgam district eliminated a total of three terrorists, with the identity of the last one confirmed on Thursday.

The third slain terrorist has been identified as Momin Gulzar Mir, a resident of Eidgah area in Srinagar city. This comes after a fresh exchange of fire erupted on Wednesday at the encounter site in the Redwani area.

“Following the initial neutralization of two terrorists, including top TRF commander Basit Dar, a search operation was launched to locate a lone surviving militant,” a police spokesperson informed. “The area was secured, and the operation successfully concluded with the elimination of the last terrorist yesterday evening.”

Basit Dar, who carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh for his involvement in numerous terror activities, was identified as a LeT commander. Authorities clarified that TRF is a front organization used by LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) and JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed) to claim responsibility for attacks, a tactic employed to mislead security forces.
