Bhopal: A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh, where a two-year-old baby girl was rescued from a 300-foot borewell after three days but was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The unfortunate event took place in Sehore, located approximately 40 km from the state capital, Bhopal.
According to officials, the toddler named Srishti fell into the borewell in Mungavali village around 1 pm on Tuesday. After a challenging rescue operation involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), the Army, and a team of robotic experts, she was finally brought to the surface at 5.30 pm on Thursday. However, despite immediate medical attention at the district hospital, her condition had deteriorated significantly, and she was declared dead upon arrival.
The minor’s body, which had undergone severe decomposition, has been sent for post-mortem examination. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier highlighted the difficulties faced during the rescue mission. Initially stuck at a depth of about 40 feet, the vibrations caused by the rescue machinery inadvertently led to the toddler sliding further down to approximately 100 feet, exacerbating the challenges faced by the rescuers.
This tragic incident has left the community in deep sorrow and has drawn attention to the importance of taking preventive measures to ensure the safety of children. The combined efforts of various rescue teams underscore the dedication and commitment displayed in such critical situations.
The authorities are likely to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify potential safety measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
