6-Yr-Old Child Climbs to Mt Everest Base Camp

Om Madan Garg, a six-year-old Singaporean boy of Indian origin trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,364 meters in Nepal. His name was registered in the Singapore Book of Records as the youngest person from Singapore to reach the high spot in the Himalayas.

But the world record for this feat is held by Heyansh Kumar of India, who at the age of three years seven months could reach the Mount Everest base camp.

Singapore’s Om trekked for 10 days in October along with his parents to reach this high mountaineering base at 5,364m, said the Singapore Book of Records. Om is a Kindergarten 2 student. He and his family were accompanied by a qualified guide and two porters during this long trek.

The preschool student has received a certificate from the Singapore Book of Records. His entire trek to Mount Everest Base camp is documented in a seven-part series on the family’s YouTube channel, The Brave Tourist.
