Amazon Plans to Sack 10,000 Employees

Amazon is planning to remove 10,000 employees from its payroll. According to The New York Times, it would be the largest layoff of employees in the company’s history. In 2001 Amazon fired around 1,500 workers. At present Amazon has more than 1.5 million employees all over the world. As per an estimate, one percent of the total employees of Amazon will lose their jobs.

It is feared that staff in the retail division and human resources may mostly be affected by this recent layoff decision of Amazon. Many employees of Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa may also lose their jobs, the report adds.

It may be noted that Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, has already fired over 3,500 employees. Meta has also sacked around 11,000 employees.
