Ex-Sarpanch Shot Dead By Maoist In Kandhamal

Kandhamal: A former Sarpanch was shot dead by Maoists at Sumerband village under Sumerband Panchayat Saulpada under Firingia police station limits in Kandhamal district.

The former sarpanch was identified as Subal Kaher, was working as a contractor.

According to reports, a KKBN Maoist called the Sarpanch from his house and shoot at him.

Upon being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation in this regard.

Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the killing may have taken place to revenge the death of three cadres in the encounter yesterday.
