Former Odisha Minister Kamala Breathes Her Last at 79

Bhubaneswar: Three-time MLA of Bhogarai and former Odisha minister Kamala Das passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack at late night on Friday at the age of 79.

She was admitted to the hospital around two weeks back because of ailments. Initially, she was admitted to Apollo Hospital in the capital city. She was found to be suffering lung infection. Later on she was shifted to the Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack.

For the last three days, she was on ventilator. According to hospital sources, she breathed her last at around 12.30 pm.

She was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bhogarai in 1990 as a Janata Dal candidate. In 1995 she retained the seat as a Janata Dal nominee. She again won from Bhogarai in 2000 as a BJD candidate.
