Gangster Atiq’s Unopened Letter to Reach CJI & UP CM; Informs His Lawyer

New Delhi: A letter written by Atiq Ahmad with directives to send it to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and Uttar Pradesh CM in case of his death is being sent to them as per the wish of murdered gangster-turned-politician, informed his lawyer on Tuesday.

According to this lawyer named Vijay Mishra, this secret letter in sealed envelope is neither with him nor sent by him. It is kept somewhere else and being sent by some other person. The lawyer said he did not know anything about the contents of the letter.

Atiq Ahmad (60) and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three men posing as journalists on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them for medical checkup in Prayagraj.

According to his lawyer, Atiq Ahmad had told him that if he was murdered, the letter in the sealed envelope should be sent to the chief justice of India and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of camera crews.

Atiq Ahmad had approached the Supreme Court for protection, claiming that he and his family have been falsely implicated in the Umesh Pal murder case and he might be murdered in a fake encounter by the UP police.
