Groom Reaches Police Custody Instead of Marriage Pandal for Deceiving a Woman

Bargarh: Personnel of Mahila police station arrested a bridegroom from his marriage procession in the Bhatli area of Bargarh district on Monday night. He is alleged to have deceived deceiving another woman. This arrested man named Ajit Kumar Bhoi is a junior engineer with Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), Bhubaneswar.

A woman had lodged a police complaint alleging that he had sexually exploited her with false promises. As per the complaint lodged by her Bhoi was having a physical relationship with her for the last two years with the assurance of marriage. But without marrying her he was trying to marry another woman.

A case was registered against him under Sections 376, 323, 294, 313, and 506 of the IPC. On Monday, Bhoi’s marriage procession was on its way from Panigengutia village of Parjang in Dhenkanal to Behera Palli village under Bhatali police limits of Bargarh, when the police personnel raided the Barat to arrest Bhoi.

The accused will be brought to Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and produced before the court.
