IPL Auction in Kochi on December 23

A mini-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in Kochi on December 23. During this one-day auction, each team will have the capacity to spend Rs 5 crore in addition to the leftover money from the previous auction.

The BCCI has informed the franchises regarding this auction. According to sources, the overall purse of this auction in Kochi would be around Rs 95 crore.

The franchises will submit their retention list by November 15. By the first week of December 2023, the IPL Governing Council will finalise the player pool for the auction.

In last year’s auction, Lucknow Super Giants had finished off its entire purse. Punjab Kings had the largest purse left over worth Rs 3.45 crore.

Earlier, it was proposed to have the auction in Istanbul. But due to logistical reasons, Kochi was selected as the venue of the IPL auction.
