Jan Shatabdi Express Derails in Chennai, Luckily No One Injured

Chennai: Two wheels of the Jan Shatabdi Express derailed near the Basin Bridge workshop in Chennai at late night on Thursday. But No injuries or casualties were reported.

Passengers of the Jan Shatabdi Express traveling from Vijayawada got down at the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Chennai Central station. After that, while it was on its way to the Basin Bridge railway yard, two front wheels of a coach derailed.

The incident took place around 12 am and at that time the whole train was empty. So, no one was injured. Following efforts of railway staff for over two hours the derailed wheels were brought back on track. According to railway officials, no main line train service was affected due to this incident. The loco pilot and other railway officials are being interrogated by police in relation to this incident.
