Joshimath Crisis: Fresh Cracks Develop in Buildings Located in Safe Zone

New Delhi: Several buildings in the safe zone of Joshimath have started developing cracks. These fresh cracks have emerged in buildings months after Joshimath made headlines for the land subsidence.

As per reports, new cracks have appeared in the Gandhinagar ward of this holy town on the way to Badrinath. These cracks appeared after the recent rains.

The cracks have appeared in the buildings in the yellow zone. The buildings in the red zone area showed up extreme cracks in the past. People had to be evacuated as over 500 houses in the Joshimath region had developed cracks.

Residents of Joshimath fear that with the start of monsoon rains cracks in their houses may start to increase. Unplanned construction is feared to be the reason behind the land subsidence in the Joshimath region.
