Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Daughter Misa get Bail in Land-for-Job Case

New Delhi: A CBI court on Wednesday granted bail to former Railways minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and their daughter Misa Bharti in the Land-for-Job corruption case. The court directed every accused to furnish Rs 50,000 personal bail bond & a like amount surety. The next hearing of the case will be held on March 29.

Lalu Yadav arrived at the Rouse Avenue Court in a wheelchair. It was his first court appearance after a kidney transplant in Singapore three months ago.

CBI and ED are investigating the role of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, both former Chief Ministers, and some of their children, including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, in the Bihar land-for-jobs scam.

Lalu Yadav and his family members are alleged to have procured land at down-to-earthCBI prices or as gifts in exchange for jobs during his tenure as Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.

Lalu Yadav and his family members face charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption.

Recently the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had searched at 24 locations in Delhi, Patna, Mumbai and Ranchi in relation to this case. The central agency says it found unaccounted Rs 1 crore cash, foreign currency of $1,900, 540 gram gold bullion, over 1.5 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.25 crore and property documents in the name of Lalu Yadav’s family members. Tejashwi Yadav’s Delhi house was also searched by the CBI.
