Minor Girl Engaged as Domestic Help Assaulted; 1 Arrested

Bhubaneswar: An 11-year-old girl engaged as domestic help was allegedly assaulted by her employer and thrown on the roadside in Bhubaneswar. The case has come to the fore from Salia Sahi of Odisha’s capital city.

According to sources, the landlord of the victim’s house engaged her in another house as domestic help. The employer and his family were allegedly torturing and beating her over small mistakes.

The accused reportedly brought the minor girl on a scooter to Salia Sahi yesterday and threw her on the roadside.

Locals spotted the girl in a critical state. They rescued her and informed the Child helpline. Two members of the Childline took her to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

The victim sustained injury marks on her entire body besides having multiple fractures.

A complaint was lodged in this connection by Childline with the local police. The Child Welfare Committee was informed about the matter.

The accused was arrested on the basis of the complaint.
