NIA Nabs Suspected Terrorist with Al Qaeda Links in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a suspected terrorist having links with the outlawed terror outfit Al Qaeda, in Bengaluru on Saturday morning.

The arrested terror suspect, identified as Arif, is a software engineer working in a tech-company in Bengaluru. He hails from Uttar Pradesh.

It is suspected that was already in contact with Al Qaeda. He was also in touch with ISIS and had made up plans to join the terror outfit.

According to sources, he had traveled to Syria via Iran in March last year. He was planning to visit Syria again.

NIA seized his laptop and other electronic devices for investigation. He was tracked down by a joint operation of the Internal Security Division (ISD) of Karnataka and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
