Nuapada Forest Dept Officer Caught Taking Rs 20k Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha vigilance officials on Wednesday apprehended a Senior Assistant in the DFO Territorial office in Khariar Forest Division of Nuapada district for demanding and accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.

The accused has been identified as Sanjaya Kumar Bag, Senior Assistant in the DFO Territorial office in Khariar Forest Division of Odisha’s Nuapada district.

According to reports, Sanjaya demanded Rs 20,000 bribe from a complainant for processing the pension paper documents and facilitating the release of retirement benefits in favour of the latter’s sister following her voluntary retirement in 2022.

Following this, the officials laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused.

Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations related to Bag from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
