Odisha Police SI Nabbed While Taking Rs 10K Bribe in Jajpur Dist

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials nabbed a police sub-inspector Nirmal Kumar Senapati, posted at Sukinda police station in Jajpur district while he was demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a complainant. The erring police SI had demanded this bribe from the complainant in the name of providing help in a case.

The marked bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. Simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations linked to the accused to probe the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.

A case against Senapati was registered at the Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
