RI Caught Red-Handed While Accepting Rs 25K Bribe in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Vigilance officials on Wednesday caught Simanchal Sahu, the Revenue Inspector of Sindhirimal Circle under Sadar Tehsil in Malkangiri district, while he was accepting a bribe worth Rs 25,000 from a complainant.

The erring RI had demanded this bribe from Mayarani Mandal for the release of government-declared compensation for a patch of land acquired for an under-construction airstrip in Malkangiri district. Mayarani preferred to inform the vigilance department about this demand for bribe and the vigilance sleuths set up a trap to catch RI Simanchal Sahu red-handed.

Sahu was rounded up, while he accepted the bribe money from Mayarani. The entire bribe money was recovered from his possession. Raids were conducted at two places linked to Sahu to unearth the possibility of disproportionate assets.
