Seizure of 2 Elephant Tusks; 7 arrested

Bhubaneswar: Two elephant tusks were seized by police from a gang of animal body part of smugglers in Mayurbhanj district. Seven persons involved in poaching of elephants and smuggling of tusks were arrested.

The arrested persons were handed over to forest department for further investigation.

It is suspected that the seized elephant tusks were of a decomposed elephant corpse that was found in Talabandha range of Similipal on January 21. According to forest officials, the tusks of this dead wild elephant were missing.
