Mayurbhanj’s Rairangpur to Get Passenger Flight Service

Bhubaneswar: Mayurbhanj district’s Rairangpur town will get connected to neighbouring Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur by flight service via Rourkela. A passenger flight service will soon begin on this route, stated a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.

As per the notification, the Dandbose airstrip located on the outskirts of Rairangpur town has been included as part of Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) regional airport development program of the Government of India.

In the first phase, a 19-seat scheduled flight will regularly shuttle between Rairangpur and Ambikapur. Airports Authority of India (AAI) has written a letter to Big Charter Private Limited in this regard.

The Dandbose airstrip will be developed at an estimated expenditure of around Rs 45 Crore under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Government of India.
