Will Lotus Bloom Or Conch Will Blow In Padampur ?

Padampur: With less than 24 hours left for the beginning of counting of votes for the by-election to the Padampur assembly seat, impatience among the candidates and their supporters is soaring with each passing hour.

The fate of the candidates sealed in the EVM machines will be revealed tomorrow as the counting is all set to start from 8.30 AM on Thursday.

Since a strong contest was seen among the candidates in the fray, it is, as per the political pundits, very difficult to predict who will romp through.

The contest between BJD’s Barsha Singh Bariha and BJP’s Pradeep Purohit is said to be neck to neck.

However, the conch party is hopeful that its candidate Barsha will win the by-election by a huge margin

At the same time, the centre ruling BJP is also sanguine about its candidate Purohit’s victory.

However, even before the counting of votes, the Congress party accepted its defeat.

While Barsha has emerged as the frontrunner with the party keen to cash in on the sympathy wave while playing the woman card, BJP’s Purohit has left no stone unturned to leave its marks in Padampur.

Acting on the party’s strategy, Barsha is likely to get both sympathy and women’s vote. But Purohit must have done his homework in better way by using what he learned from the 2019 defeat. ,

While CM Naveen’s wave is paving the path for Barsha,  on another hand, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s active support was a major strength of Pradeep Purohit.

It is a direct and close fight between BJD’s Barsha Singh Bariha and Pradip Purohit from the BJP.

Dhamnagar was a BJP seat that the party retained, but Padampur is a BJD bastion and the saffron party is trying to conquer it before going to the 2024’s grand battle.

The election to the Padampur seat was necessitated by the sudden demise of sitting MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha.
