Woman Denied Entry Into House By In-Laws For Giving Birth To Girl Child

Sambalpur: At a time when the government is bringing about awareness among people on the importance of girl child, craze for boy child continues. A woman was not allowed into the house by her in-laws as she delivered a baby girl in Sambalpur district.

The victim has been identified as Dipali (20).

According to reports, the matter came to the fore after the woman reached out to Mahila Police and filed a complaint.

Reportedly, Dipali married one Pabitra Bagarti last year. However, soon after marriage, Pabitra, his mother and sister started demanding dowry and torturing Dipali, the FIR stated. Things got worse when she delivered a baby girl in April. Her in-laws, Dipali claimed, started harassing her all the more as she could not bear a male child.  Dipali claimed, her in-laws started harassing her all the more as she delivered a baby girl.

With no option left, , she reached out to Sambalpur Mahila Police and filed a complaint.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, official sources informed.
