Woman Nabbed for Ganja Smuggling Dies in Excise Dept Custody in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A woman nabbed on charges of ganja smuggling died while in the custody of the excise department in the Mathili block of Malkangiri district. The deceased was Priti of MV 66 village in Kalimela block.

As per reports, excise officials apprehended her on Friday from Kamalapadar. She was allegedly involved in smuggling marijuana to Uttar Pradesh.

She was detained in the excise department office in Mathili, where she died under mysterious circumstances. It is claimed that she passed away while sleeping.

The exact reason behind her death can be ascertained only after autopsy, police sources said. Malkangiri police formed a special team to probe this custodial death.
